Summer is upon us and I cannot believe that the school year is almost over. It really flew by. I’m sure my 5th grader will not agree about that, but at least it did for me! Tomorrow will be June 1st and that also means that Father’s Day is COMING. I played around with some Father’s Day cookies today and this is what I came up with. I actually had some latte-shaped cookies planned with these neckties and t-shirts, but they didn’t come out as planned (AKA- we ate them). If you don’t like the way the cookie comes out, just eat it. It’s a no-brainer really.
When I decided to make the neckties, I realized I did not have a cookie cutter to make them. I improvised and drew out a necktie shape. I cut it out and traced it onto a piece of plastic and cut out a template. I used my template on my cookie dough and cut out the neckties. For the T-shirt, I used Sweet Sugarbelle’s t-shirt cutter. I have to say, I wasn’t overly thrilled with the way the cookies came out. When I did the wet-on-wet technique on the ties, my icing was a little too thick and didn’t blend well. I still think they are super-cute though.
I have more Father’s Day cookies in the works to come soon! I’m thinking lattes for sure. My husband LOVES popcorn and Pepsi so there will be popcorn and Pepsi for him. I have really been itching to make some chocolate sugar cookies so stay tuned for all of the excitement!
Speaking of excitement, this is a wonderful time of year. End of year parties, making summer plans and extra time with friends and family. My daughter just graduated from college for the SECOND time and my youngest is graduating from 5th grade. I can hardly believe it. I am also in the process of starting my home cottage food business and I am excited and NERVOUS to say the least. There are so many things to plan and consider. I’m excited to share my ups and downs with you all!
